2024/25 Ghana Premier league: Week 19 Match Preview - Medeama vs Legon Cities

Medeama SC will face Legon Cities on Sunday at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa in what promises to be an intriguing Premier League clash. The match will mark the first game in charge for new Medeama coach Ibrahim Tanko, who was appointed earlier in the week following the reassignment of Evans Adotey to technical director after a series of underwhelming results.Medeama come into this match on the back of a tough run, with losses to Accra Lions and Berekum Chelsea extending their winless streak to four games. Defensive stability will be a key focus for Tanko, as the team has struggled to keep clean sheets, conceding in their last four matches. A solid defensive performance will be essential if Medeama are to reverse their recent form.Legon Cities, on the other hand, are in a more positive frame of mind after securing back-to-back wins against Bibiani Gold Stars and Dreams FC. While they will be confident heading into the match, their away form remains a concern, as they have conceded goals in each of their last ten away matches. Strengthening their defence will be crucial if they are to extend their winning run.In their recent head-to-head meetings, Medeama...

Beefing up Black Stars technical team is a step in the right direction – Karim Zito

Dreams FC coach Abdul Karim Zito hailed the Ghana Football Association for beefing up the Black Stars technical team following recent setbacks. The domestic football governing on Tuesday effected major changes to the Black Stars technical team in a bid to revamp the national side ahead of upcoming tournaments.Speaking to Kessben FM, Zito emphasized that the inclusion of experienced coaches to the technical team could aid the Black Stars positively.“I think it’s for the betterment of the national team. Technical team isn’t always about the coaches, it’s something broad. Our problem has always being psychological issues. I think beefing up the technical team is a step in the right direction”“It’s good to bring in someone who is more experienced than the coach. To me, this is exactly what Otto Addo needs. He is being surrounded by experienced coaches and I’m sure they can impact Otto Addo’s led technical team positively for us to get what we want”Experienced German manager Winfried Anton Schaffer, who guided Cameroon to the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations title joins as the technical advisor to the Black Stars team and is expected to work closely with Otto Addo.Desmond Offei, the current...

Referee Maxwell Hanson is an agenda referee – New Edubiase owner Abdul Salam Yakubu

New Edubiase United owner Abdul Salam Yakubu has labeled referee Maxwell Hanson as an "agenda referee," accusing him of bias and unfair officiating in Ghanaian football.Yakubu’s comments follow recent criticism of Hanson’s performance during Dreams FC’s 1-0 victory over Accra Lions, a match that sparked calls for referee reforms by Lions and a public exchange between the two clubs.Young Apostles president Samuel Anim Addo also criticized Hanson, alleging that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) uses him for "dirty works."Addo's remarks resulted in charges from the GFA, but Yakubu has thrown his support behind him.Speaking to Asempa FM, Yakubu said, “That referee [Maxwell Hanson] is a thief more than any other referee, and they’ve kept him in the system for so many years."Even we the football administrators, why must we allow Anim Addo to suffer? It is the FA that is keeping Hanson; he is an agenda referee.”Yakubu further alleged that Hanson’s decisions contributed to New Edubiase’s relegation, claiming, “Hanson and Dreams FC got New Edubiase relegated.”
