Latest news and updates before Saturdayās football Fixtures | Tables | Mail matchday.live@theguardian.com Paul is confident that Tottenham will succeed if they appoint Thomas Frank to replace Ange Postecoglou: āThereās probably been too much over thinking on this. I sent this message to my son last night. āItās the right decision. He can leave a hero and will always be welcomed back. Ā£100m just for turning up in the CL is too much to gamble on him getting top four. I know Frank hasnāt managed at CL level and he may be out of his depth but, personally, Iāve been walking out of games during the tenure of the last 3 managers. That needs to stop and if Frank gets me to stay 90+ minutes every week, heās a step up! It will be interesting whether Frank can attract top quality signings. I see Manor Solomonās coming back. Not a good start to the window!!ā Continue reading...

Some things in life are guaranteed. Manor Solomon, given the chance to run at an opponent will cut infield into his right foot. James Maddison, challenged in the box, will go to ground, sit up, and spread his arms while looking plaintively at the referee. And Tottenham, just as optimism is beginning to sprout, will find a way to lose. Or will they? Perhaps this is the true Ange Postecoglou revolution: it took 15 minutes of added-time, but from somewhere they found two late goals to win it. Richarlison scored the equaliser and then laid on the winner for Dejan Kulusevski, a remarkable contribution from a player who has seemed so out of sorts for so long, who has admitted his off-field struggles. But it also seemed typical of this new era for Spurs, who have recently become, uncharacteristically, a club to whom good things happen. Continue reading...
